THEFT OF METALS
Please be aware of an increase in thefts of metal in the area.
In Lowestoft recently the lead roof of a commercial property in Hollingsworth Rd has been removed and the lead flashing was removed from a shop in Norwich Rd. A few weeks earlier an attempt was made to remove the lead roof from a building in Oxford road. Copper piping & electrical cable, particularly in new build properties have also been targeted along with metal gates and farm implements from village halls and more rural properties. Catalytic Converters are also being taken with 3 being removed from cars in the same car park.
With the increase in value of scrap metal there has been an increase in these thefts. Please be vigilant, if you see someone tampering with a car or building do not assume that they are a workman or the owner. If you are at all suspicious call Suffolk Police immediately on 999.If you have any information relating to this recent spate of thefts, if you know the name of someone responsible for any of these crimes or you know where the scrap metal may have been taken please call Suffolk Police on 01986 835300 ref LO/08/4517
