“By gum” it’s the 20th June ie the summer solstice ie the longest day is close at hand. Whoever said and/or wrote that “time and tide waits for no man” most certainly got it right if nowt else.
At this time in the history of man when confusion to a more greater rather than a lesser degree seems so often to be the order of the day as many are literally finding themselves clinging to a piece of driftwood whilst the seemingly gone life raft rapidly approaches the horizon and thus to soon disappear out of sight, amidst the now well laden clouds of doom and gloom. Unlike my late Mum’s pressure cooker which had a pressure release valve, hence it would seem that for man the options once available are now becoming a little less plentiful, whilst all around us Mother Nature is at her very best ably assisted by the increased rain falls.
A few days ago with many others who were mostly on bicycles Ann and I participated in an event to raise funds for the East Anglian Children’s Hospices in Rendlesham Forest. Whilst our three mile walk took us one and a half hours to complete, the tranquility with the beauty of the differing trees and heather etc. made it so worth while and may I express our joint appreciation to those who sponsored us.
It is at this time that we begin to focus once again on the Annual Village Fete when and where we often see old friends and acquaintances of yesteryear who may have departed from “Little ole Ike” for a variety of reasons, but find themselves drawn back for a yarn and a cuppa. We can but hope that we may be blessed with sunshine on Sunday 20th July. Hope to see you.
Mervyn.
