NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
A move is being made to revitalise the neighbourhood watch scheme and while it should be remembered that it is what it says i.e. a locally organised civilian project, it does have full police backing. Most will be aware of the Police Direct initiative, which allows information on crime and other matters to be addressed to householders by various means. More >>>

In the meantime it is hoped that information on particular problems will be relayed via the newsletter and web site. At present there are two such items. The first concerns bogus callers, who it would seem are especially active at this time of the year, and the police would like to know if you encounter one.

The other matter concerns the theft of domestic fuel. Because of the high price of such it is worthwhile thieves targeting it. The telephone number to use if you wish to report bogus callers or any other suspicious activity is 01473 613500 (Martlesham Police HQ), or for emergencies call 999 of course.

We are also aware of several changes of home ownership, and the number of new houses that have been built within the village since our last contact list was compiled. We would like to invite newcomers to join our list of members, and also give current members the chance to update their records, by completing the attached slip on the newsletter. This can then be returned to Mike Fisher or any of our coordinators.

We strongly recommend members join Police Direct, which quickly informs the community of local crimes, road problems, etc, and leaflets about this should be circulated shortly. Details are also available on this web site as they come in.
